VARISTEM BLASTING/STEMMING PLUGS

The VARISTEM reduces energy costs and breaker use on oversized, with the VARISTEM achieving
up to a 25% increase in fragmentation. With diesel and electrical costs commanding more
of the operational costs, the “very low price” of the VARISTEM is the most cost efficient
means of improving after blast processing.

The above photo sequence demonstrates how the VARISTEM effectively
plugs drill holes, eliminating stemming ejection so that the total blast is directed
into the body mass for maximum breakage. Although this example shows a bridge support
demolition, this is this same stem locking that achieves maximum fragmentation in
quarry/mine field operations. Note in the photo sequence that the body mass
disintegrates with no stemming ejection.
